Like many of you we are very saddened to see the sudden destruction happen in the Napa and Sonoma wine countries. I've been visiting wineries of both counties since I was an undergrad at UCDavis and am a big fan of their wonderful wines, and have had so many wonderful experiences with the dedicated wine industry professionals there. Drava Wines humbly joins #CAWineStrong and will donate $1 per bottle sold for the rest of this month towards efforts helping Napa and Sonoma counties recover. We've also reached out to make our winery and home available to their wine industries. Our thoughts and prayers are with our Northern Californian wine industry neighbors. -Steve and William Carson

Big harvest day

We are the newest winery in Lodi and probably the smallest so when we crush 2 tons in a day it's a big day for us! Today we crushed one ton of Tempranillo from Silva Vineyards, a half ton of Teroldego and a half ton of Peloursin from Ripken Vineyards. It's well into October now and all three grapes came in around 24.5 Brix. This has been a very unusual harvest with the unseasonably cool last four weeks. It will be new to me to see how the flavors of wines made from Lodi red grapes in October develop. I do like receiving cool grapes as that allows me a day or two of cold soak before I pitch yeast, which extends maceration time. Please enjoy the pictures of today's winegrape pickup and cru

Harvest update

Greetings from Lodi! Thought I'd give an update now that we've done some winemaking. Harvest started for us in early September with one last heat wave but since then the temperature has alternated between being seasonal to below average. For the grape varieties that are mid to late-season, some of these have barely ripened sugar-wise for the last month! We get sugar updates on the Tempranillo we'll be bringing in and it's been stuck at 22 Brix. But that's ok - it's turned out with the cool weather, we've been able to crush, ferment, and press one lot before the next one comes and that gives us lots of time (and space) to focus on one thing at a time. We pressed our first lot, Sangiovese
